I n t r o d u c t i o n

I am a visual artist and educator living and working in South Australia.

This web site has been created to showcase my art work, past and present.

As an art student, in the early nineties, I found the rigorous concept development and select use of materials and objects, to create sculpture, exciting and challenging. This became my major area of study. I also studied drawing, although I was not aware, at the time, it would become central to my future art practice; I saw myself as a sculptor. I only used drawing as a tool to express and develop ideas for my sculptures. Gradually, the drawings became a vehicle for the ideas and the artworks themselves.

In my book series, the drawings tend to have a sculptural quality, almost architectural, but this has not always been the case. During the mid to late nineties I was working on landscapes and focused on developing a system of marks, like visual note taking, to represent what I could see.

This web site contains a variety of work I have created since 1991. Including the earliest landscapes from Alice Springs, when I was a student at the TAFE College there (now a part of the Charles Darwin University). I have also included some pictures of Genetic Ark, an installation which I was extremely proud of and whose message resonates today more than ever.

I will continue to develop the site into a complete folio of my work including journal excerpts, other relevant information and upcoming exhibitions.
